Methanol production suspended indefinitely
Achema board of directors decided to suspend production of methanol for an indefinite period of time up to positive changes in the market. This decision was predetermined by evaluation of competitive environment in the global market and by assessment of future prospects. In order to optimise company's activities and use available resources rationally, the board came to a decision to dismiss 80 percent of methanol plant staff.
According to Human Resources and Common Affairs Director Gitenis Subačius, the board decision will affect 38 employees of methanol plant. He notes, that all the employees will get all the social benefits, which they are subject to under the law. The remaining 20 percent of methanol plant staff will maintain operations relating to purchased methanol required for manufacturing process and inoperative methanol plant equipment maintenance.
