According to Mr Jonas Sirvydis, CEO of Achema, the company detects yet new fields for the chemical industry to produce environmentally friendly products. AdBlue is extremely efficient at reducing nitric oxide pollution from transport. Mr Sirvydis hopes that the market for products intended for ecology technologies will expand.
Urea solution brought on the market under the commercial name AdBlue is used in technology reducing truck pollution to the standards acceptable in the European Union. All vehicles traded in the EU territory have to meet the Euro standards. Pollution reduction method using AdBlue is considered as one of the most efficient and therefore is more and more often implemented by truck producers.
Many systems have been developed in the past years seeking to reduce the emission of harmful gas by the engines. The most popular among the new technologies is Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). In the course of the process AdBlue is injected to the exhaust pipe and due to the reaction between AdBlue and nitric oxide gas, getting alongside to SCR catalyst, the substances are turned into harmless water vapour and nitrogen, which is a constituent of the air. At the same time the emission of particles is reduced significantly and fuel consumption, as compared to engines complying with EURO 3 emission standard, is reduced by approximately 5%.
The major truck producers have opted for the SCR technology for strong technical and commercial reasons: this technology reduces the emissions of nitric oxide by 85%, and the emissions of particles - by 40%. By now SCR/AdBlue is the sole technology to comply with EURO 5 emission requirements (to come into force by 2010)
In Lithuania, AdBlue produced by Achema AB is supplied by the Achema's branch Gashema. In France, trade in AdBlue is planned to be developed by the subsidiary Litfert s.a.r.l., and in Poland - by Liteximp.
